District Capital Projects On Schedule and Under Budget!

The District’s 2009 Waterline Replacement Project which will replace over 11,000 feet of older four-inch water main with new larger water line is currently in progress and under budget. The construction contractor for the District, JBS Pipeline has three crews working simultaneously in order to complete the project in the time specified in the contract. This project is mainly done in small residential streets and can be difficult. Please slow down in “cone zones”.

Thank you to all affected customers for your patience with the dirt and dust as we complete this important water line replacement project!

District Water System Maintenance Nearly Complete for 2009

District field crews have been busy with the routine maintenance program for 2009. During this program over 1000 water main line valves are operated to ensure they are accessible and in good working order in case of emergency. Properly maintained valves can mean the difference between minor damage and a major problem for the District and District customers if the valves are not operational and there is a main break.

It is possible that you have observed the field crews flushing fire hydrants during the last two months or so. This is done every year to ensure the fire hydrants are working properly and will work at full capacity for West Metro Fire when needed. This flushing program also ensures that there is always fresh water in the system for District customers to drink and use. During the winter areas of low water usage or “dead ends” especially need to be flushed on a regular basis to maintain water quality. The District currently maintains approximately 1000 fire hydrants each year.

Sewer System Maintenance Complete for 2009

As a part of the District’s preventative proactive maintenance program a contractor using state-of-the-art equipment will clean and create DVD recordings of 25% of the sewer main line each year. This program will include over 25 miles of line cleaned each year and the DVD recordings are installed onto the District’s GIS program for easy access and recordkeeping purposes. Remember if you have a sewer line problem call the District first to determine if you need a plumber or if the blockage is in the main line. Time is important if there is a main line blockage and a call to the District could save a backup for you or your neighbors. District personnel are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Call the District’s regular phone number 303-922-1113. Please do not use the internet to contact the District in an emergency!

Please Trim Around Fire Hydrants

If you have a fire hydrant adjacent to your property please make sure it can be seen by West Metro Fire! The fire departments do have maps showing the fire hydrant locations however in an emergency situation every second counts and it is best to have the fire hydrants fully visible. There should also be three feet of clearance on all sides of the fire hydrant for the fire fighting personnel to have enough room to work quickly and safely. If you need assistance in determining what has to be trimmed or even help with the trimming please contact the District office.

Provide a Daytime Phone Number on Pay Stub

Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District has developed a very good data base of phone numbers to be used in case of an emergency. Please provide a daytime phone number on your payment stub. The District will never provide your personal information to any outside agency! The numbers will only be used in case of an emergency or for water or sewer related issues.

Please visit Denver Water’s web site for great information for water customers. The 2009 Watering Program is in detail as well as tips to help save water both inside the home and outside on the landscaping. There is also a link from the District’s web site www.bancroft-clover.com. Remember to raise the lawnmower to the highest setting for the hot summer months. This will help the lawn use less water and look green in the hot weather!
