Watering Rules for Spring/Summer 2009
Beginning on May 1, 2009 and ending on October 1, 2009 the following watering rules are in effect:
- No lawn watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Do not water more than three days per week
(There are no assigned watering days)
- Do not waste water by allowing it to pool in gutters, streets and alleys.
- Do not waste water by letting it spray on concrete and asphalt.
- Repair leaking sprinkler systems within 10 days.
- Do not use spray irrigation while it is raining or during high winds.
Set sprinkler timing monthly for the time of the summer. For example set the timer to water for only 13 minutes per zone in the early and late months of the summer and extend the watering time for the hotter months as needed. This method can save up to 50% of the water used during the entire summer over setting the timing once a season.
Check system on start up for any missing or damaged sprinkler heads, leaks, and make sure the spray patterns are on turf areas only.
For complete watering rules, watering tips, and other water conservation information please access the Denver Water web site www.denverwater.org.

Areas of District to Receive Increased Water Pressure
Approximately 800 homes will receive increased water pressure in the fall if all construction projects finish as scheduled. Some of the homes have received seasonally increased pressure in the summer as Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District turns on additional pumps for the irrigation season. These homes will receive the higher pressure all year round as a result of the Pressure Improvement Project that is underway in partnership with Denver Water. Other areas that will benefit from the increased pressure have historically had lower (45-60 psi) pressure. These homes will have the pressure increase approximately 40 psi.
By partnering with Denver Water on this project the District will abandon a pumping station saving approximately 18 million dollars over forty years. The savings will come from the elimination of repeated station rehabilitation, electrical costs for pumping and staff costs for daily inspections. As a result of this project the District will also be protected from extended power outages causing loss of water service by the incorporation of a back up generation system.
All affected homes will be sent a letter that contains additional information and a contact for questions.
