Fall is Here! Time to Winterize!
The beginning of October has brought warm sunny days to the metro area. Soon however, the temperatures will fall and the snow will begin to fly. By the middle of October it will be time to winterize your sprinkler system and plumbing to save expensive and damaging problems when the temperatures fall below freezing. Take a look at the winterizing ideas below and do not wait; winter will be here before long!
· Locate and test your water shut off valve in the basement or crawl space in case of an emergency.
· Turn off and drain sprinkler system (blow out zones with compressed air if necessary).
· Check basement and crawl space for any area that could allow for cold air to blow in and freeze a pipe. Install heat tape on piping in areas that normally get very cold to prevent damage.
· Disconnect hoses from the house and install an insulated cap if the hose connection is on the north side or always in the shade. Insulated caps are available at most hardware stores.
· Turn off water service and winterize homes or businesses if there will be no heat in the building.
· Be sure to close garage doors. Many homes have piping in the walls or above the garage that will freeze if the doors are left open.
· If you will be going on vacation in the colder months, have a friend or neighbor check on the home while you are away to ensure the furnace is working properly.
District Employee Wins Regional Award!
The Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association (Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico) at the annual conference in Colorado Springs has selected Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District Field Manager Jim Forth as the Water Distribution System Operator of the Year. Jim was selected over many excellent water system employees from the three state area. He is a Level 4 Certified Water System Operator and has been with the District for over 34 years. Jim continues to be a dedicated employee and is a great asset to the District.
Congratulations to Mr. Jim Forth for the excellent job and prestigious award!
Sign Up for the Automatic Payment Program!
Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District’s Automatic Payment Program can save the District’s customers time paying bills and will prevent them from ever having a late fee! There is no charge for the program and customers even save on postage. A bill is sent to all District customers with detailed water use information. Information will be provided to customers to advise them of the specific date when the automatic payment will be deducted from their account. If there are any questions on the monthly billing customers may call the District office prior to the payment.
Reminder: the District does not take credit card or over the phone payments.
