Summer is Here! Read For Rules and Tips to Save Water!
The Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District provides Denver Water to all customers and participates in Denver’s summer watering program. Details as well as additional water saving tips can be found on Denver Water’s web site: www.denverwater.org. Please observe the following:
· No watering between 10 AM-6 PM.
· Do not allow water to pool in gutters, streets and alleys.
· Do not waste water by spraying concrete or asphalt.
· Repair leaks as soon as possible (within ten days or subject to warning or fines).
· Do not use spray irrigation in the rain or high winds.
· Water any three days per week (you make your own schedule).
Violations Can Result in Warnings and Fines!
For manual sprinklers it is best to get an impact type instead of an oscillating type of sprinkler that rolls back and forth and sends water way up in the air for evaporation to occur and a little wind will send all that water into the street. The impact sprinklers will keep the water closer to the ground and have larger water drops. Set a timer inside the house to remind you to move the hose and sprinkler regularly. Water sloped areas with two shorter watering periods instead of one longer one to avoid runoff.
Automatic sprinkler systems are a great convenience, however, they can waste a lot of water if problems are not corrected. No adjustments will be made to large bills due to leaks in irrigation systems or damaged or missing sprinkler heads! Make sure to regularly check all sprinkler heads and control valves to find problems before leaks result in a large water bill. Adjust the time watered per zone every month to save water. Lawns in July and August will take nearly two times the water that the same lawns will require in May or September.
2008 Water Line Replacement Project Underway
Contractors are replacing over 9,000 feet of older four inch water line in the District. Construction is underway on the 90 day project that is in various areas of the service area. This project is a part of Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District’s Master Plan for infrastructure replacement and the cost of over $611,000.00 is being funded out of District reserves set aside for these projects. A meeting was held in the District office for all customers that are directly affected by the project and several homeowners attended with questions for the District staff and the contractor selected to perform the work.

Sewer Line Cleaning and Televising Complete for 2008!
The District’s maintenance contractor has completed the sewer cleaning and televising schedule for 2008. Each year the District cleans over 150,000 feet of sewer main line. The cleaning is needed to keep debris from eventually plugging the sewer lines and causing possible expensive cleanups. The District is not responsible for individual home or commercial sewer service lines from the home or building all the way to the main line in the street. Customers are reminded to regularly have their sewer lines cleaned and maintained.
