West Metro Fire Asks For Assistance!
The West Metro Fire District has requested assistance from all home and business owners in the removal of snow and ice from around fire hydrants. The large amount of snow the area has had in the last six weeks together with the snow removal activities and the cold temperatures have made many fire hydrants inaccessible. Fire fighters typically need about 36 inches of clearance on all sides of the fire hydrant to operate it properly. Please remove snow and ice from around fire hydrants near your property. In an emergency situation the few minutes saved can be critical. Some fire hydrants have been damaged during the snow removal process or from a vehicle making contact with the hydrant. Contact the Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District office at 303-922-1113 if you see a damaged fire hydrant. Field personnel will be testing and inspecting all hydrants within the District this spring and summer to ensure proper operation during a fire at a home or business.
